PRESIDENT'S MESSAGE

Hello Everyone

By now I’m sure we are all over the Christmas/New Year and Australia Day celebrations and looking forward to what this year brings.

The January meeting was a little different as we had morning tea before the meeting only because we had a BBQ after the meeting. Special thanks must go to IGA who sponsored our BBQ. For those who cooked and cleaned thank you and to Michael H for organising it. It was a lovely way to start the year.

As I have mentioned before we need volunteers to help on the management committee. Most of the retirees have been on the committee for three years and their time is up. Some are leaving for personal reasons.

You will notice on our website the positions that are vacant. Please remember if you do not want to talk at meetings there are plenty that will do it for you. Don’t let that stop you from taking a position. Remember Friendship, Fellowship and Fun and I guarantee you get all three whilst working on the committee.

The February meeting will be the last meeting before the AGM on 9th March 2023.

Keep safe

Maria

Please Consider Nominating for the 2023/24 Committee

At each AGM we thank the Committee members for their work for the Club and farewell those finishing up. This year some members have served 3 or 4 years, and some have done multiple stints over time. They have done their bit to help the Club flourish. Now it is time for others to step up.

TO CONTINUE OPERATING WE NEED A FULLY FUNCTIONING MANAGEMENT COMMITTEE. Volunteers are needed for Treasurer, Secretary, Outings, Groups, Members, Communications and importantly we need a new Vice President.

The empty spots shown below won’t fill by wishing someone else will do it. What time and skills can you offer? What are you prepared to do to keep the Club alive and thriving? If you value your Club think seriously about helping manage it.

Our first meeting for the year started with morning tea, the January meeting and a sausage sizzle followed. It was a different format to the usual meeting and guest speaker and a great way to start the year.

GUEST SPEAKER FOR FEBRUARY
The speaker for February is Noel Phelan who will talk about the sinking of the Costa Concordia in the Mediterranean Sea on 13 January 2012.

The Christmas party on 8th December at Concord Golf Club was a great success. A big thank you to Michael and Marian for organising such a great party. The singing chef was a highlight along with the entertainment provided by 12 Probus members singing the 12 Days of Christmas. Who knew there were so many talented singers in our Club.
