PRESIDENT'S MESSAGE

Dear Member
With the Festive Season now behind us and more encouraging public health outcomes we can hopefully look towards a more normal 2022. Our Probus year started off in a positive way with a well supported January BBQ followed by our first Happy Hour at the Club. I would like to acknowledge our local Breakfast Point IGA for the donation of all food for the BBQ.

There are a number of outings and activities on our calendar and I encourage you to book early, as they are always popular. Make sure you check on our website for booking details.

Our first general meeting of the year is scheduled for Thursday 10th February in the Community Hall. This is a Covid safe meeting and it is essential that all members attending have been registered as fully vaccinated. If you haven't shown your vaccination certificates previously you will need to do so prior to entering the Hall.

A reminder also that annual membership fees ($30) are now due and must be paid before the end of March. Please place cash or cheque in a clearly marked and sealed envelope. There will be a collection table at the meeting.

Yours in Probus
Rick

SIX THE MUSICAL
A British musical comedy by Toby Marlow and Lucy Moss. A modern retelling of the lives of the six wives of Henry VIII presented as a pop concert, as the wives take turns singing and telling their story to see who suffered the most due to Henry and should, therefore, become the group's lead singer. The writers based the wives vocals and colours on real-life pop stars.

DIVORCED- Catherine of Aragon (Beyonce, Jennifer Lopez)
“No Way” The lyrics assert her importance as the first wife.
BEHEADED- Anne Boleyn (breathless, raspy sound of Miley Cyrus and Lily Allen)
"Don't Lose Ur Head" The tune of “Greensleeves” is woven through her song (from the myth that Henry Vlll composed it for her)
DIED- Jane Seymour (pop divas Celine Dion and Rihanna)
“Heart of Stone” as she sings about how she will always love Henry even through hard times. Jane was believed to be the only one Henry VIII loved out of his six wives.
DIVORCED -Anna of Cleves (mix of Lorde and Beyonce)
“Get Down” celebrates Anna's riches granted after her divorce from Henry.
BEHEADED- Katherine Howard (pop songs of Britney Spears and Ariana Grande)
“All you Want to Do” story of the young wife beheaded for having an affair.
SURVIVED-Catherine Parr (expressive vocals and emotive delivery of Alicia Keys)
“I don’t Need your Love” as Catherine flaunts herself as the only one to survive Henry Vlll!

What a wild ride this show turned out to be. After our ears recovered the consensus of our group was that this had been entertaining, joyous, exhilarating and the perfect escape from a Covid world!
